  Camak
was the junction of the Georgia Railroad and the Savannah & Atlanta
Railroad. It was incorporated in 1898, and named for James
Camak, the first president of Georgia Railroad. Camak is connected
by rail to Atlanta, Augusta, Macon and Savannah. A cyclone passed
through Camak in 1875 and a freak incident of this cyclone was that
a shingle was found embedded in a telephone pole. A portion of that
pole was later placed on exhibit in the Smithsonian Institute in
Washington, D.C.
