July 13th, 2007 - Warren County Library Reading went to the dogs at the Warren County Public Library on Friday, July 13th when they sponsored a R.E.A.D. (Reading Education Assistance Dogs) program.... I'm all ears!
The R.E.A.D. program aims to improve children’s reading and communication skills by allowing children to read to a dog. R.E.A.D. dogs are registered, insured and trained therapy dogs who volunteer with their owner/handlers as a team to be reading companions for the children. Each child is paired with a dog to read out loud at their own pace in a less intimidating atmosphere. The program hopes to give the children an opportunity to practice and enjoy reading in a fun environment. And then what happened? | That story's so exciting I may have to go outside | Wow! That's a real page-turner! | Thank you so much for reading that story to me! | A bedtime story, maybe? |
