Motorcycles Overrun Court House Square in Warrenton  The 6th Annual “Back Roads & Bikes Charity Ride” with Poker Run in Warrenton was a big success with 82 motorcycle riders in attendance. Riders came from far and near, despite sprinkles of rain, to participate in the charity event, which raised over $1050.00 to benefit the local Mentoring Program and Early Read Program. See album of photos at Google Russ Gray, an avid rider from Warrenton, planned the scenic route and led the participants on a 40-mile ride while the Warren County Sheriff’s Department provided logistical support as they traveled. The starting point was the Warren County Court House, and the main point of interest was the Ogeechee River Mill. With the recent rains, the river was flowing beautifully, and Missy Garner, owner and operator of the mill, treated the riders to boiled peanuts and a nice rest amidst the historical site. The riders finished their tour of Warren and Glascock counties at the Warrenton Cultural Center. Door prizes were provided by Gray’s Citgo, Miss Jane’s Restaurant, Mike’s Custom Cycles, Alltel, G & K Services, Harley’s Grill and Hometown Warrenton, Inc. The snacks and drinks were provided by Keebler, Sam’s Club and Augusta Coca-Cola. Lunch was provided by Harper’s Linestriping, Colonial Bread, 7 Stars, and the City of Warrenton provided the venue, the Cultural Center. The winners of the Poker Run were Jeff White of Norwood, who had the Worst Hand ($100 prize) and Jon & Rosemary Register of Thomson, who had the Best Hand ($300 prize).
