Nov 7, 2009 - 1st Saturday Main Street Read 10am-2pm. The day will begin when the Cat in the Hat arrives to play host for all of the day’s activities. From 10am-2pm the Warren County Public Library will hold its book sale in front of the courthouse. The Early Read Program will be set up in a booth to sign up Warren County children for the program. Do you have what it takes to make the best bowl of chili in Warren County? Let’s find out! The recipe is simple…..take one cook, all the ingredients needed, a big pot to hold the required one gallon* of prepared chili, and don’t forget a big spoon or ladle. This is not your ordinary cookoff. You are allowed to cook your chili at home and bring it to the Mason’s Building on FIRST SATURDAY, January 3rd between 10:30 and 11:15 AM. Please bring your entry in a crock pot and bring an extension cord . We ask that you not put your name on anything you bring in because the judges are not supposed to know whose is whose. That would not be fair. But wait! There’s more….soups and stews also qualify. The same rules apply for soups and stews that apply for chili….refer to recipe above.
*Each competitor must bring at least one gallon because the entries will be sold around noon, and the proceeds will be going to Relay for Life in Warren County.
