Knox Theater Lighting
Ceremony Monday evening, August 31, 2009, 7:30 PM In front of the
Historic Knox Theater Come to downtown Warrenton on Monday, August 31st at
7:30. The newly renovated façade of the Historic Knox Theater will be “shown”.
The first phase of the renovation is complete, and we want to celebrate the
first step to having this nostalgic piece of history back in operation again.
The architectural plans for the theater will be unveiled for all to see. Bring
a lawn chair and enjoy the short ceremony before the “lights come on”!!

High Lonesome
Band from Gibson, GA. You can visit them on their website:
www.highlonesomeband.net. They often play The Bistro in Louisville, GA. Their
repertoire is mostly classic rock, southern rock and some pop. Come join us
in City Park during the supper hours. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy
some great music while you eat! Bring your supper and dine to music - feel free to set up a
table for a romantic dinner! It’s fun for the entire family.
Based on the weather, the concert may be held in the
cultural center at South Gibson and Church streets. A decision will be made
by 5 o'clock and a sign will be posted at City Park.

Juliet will be performed at Warren County High School
Auditorium at 6:30 each evening by the Area Children’s Theatre. This
is our third season and involves our biggest cast yet. We have over
twenty young people in the cast and crew from Thomson, Warrenton and
Sharon; those who are public schooled, private schooled and home
schooled….a wonderful jacquard pattern perfect for Shakespeare.

Chili Cookoff will be held in the Mason’s Building Do you have
what it takes to make the best bowl of chili in Warren County? Let’s
find out! The recipe is simple…..take one cook, all the ingredients
needed, a big pot to hold the required one gallon* of prepared
chili, and don’t forget a big spoon or ladle. This is not your
ordinary cookoff. You are allowed to cook your chili at home and
bring it to the Mason’s Building on FIRST SATURDAY, January 3rd
between 10:30 and 11:15 AM. Please bring your entry in a crock pot
and bring an extension cord . We ask that you not put your name on
anything you bring in because the judges are not supposed to know
whose is whose. That would not be fair. But wait! There’s
more….soups and stews also qualify. The same rules apply for soups
and stews that apply for chili….refer to recipe above. *Each
competitor must bring at least one gallon because the entries will
be sold around noon, and the proceeds will be going to Relay for
Life in Warren County.

4, 2008, 10am-2pm, in downtown Warrenton, GA for our 2nd Annual Fiddles &
Vittles, a Food & Music Fest. Hometown Warrenton, Inc. presents this
First Saturday event as a kick-off to the fall season.
TDC (Tim Price, Doug Johnson, Carrol Morris) will be pickin' and
singin' on the courthouse steps. So, bring a lawn chair or blanket
and your dancing shoes. The promenade will be left open for dancin'!
A variety of food vendors will be set up on the square selling all
kinds of good foods and treats. So, bring your appetite and plan to
stay for lunch. The Helping Hands Food Pantry
will also be accepting food donations on the square. Please, bring
canned and dry foods of the everyday type. There will be a brand new
Hamilton Beach blender raffled off to a winning participant. Donors
to the food pantry receive one ticket per two items donated. The
pantry serves the needy of Warren County. You do not have to be
present to win the blender! In case of rain,
this outdoor event will be canceled, BUT donations to the pantry and
the raffle will still be held at FUMC, 421 Main Street, Warrenton

Saturday July 5th 2008 - Patriotic Day will be
observed in Warrenton. Festivities will include a
parade, bring-your-own picnic, pie bake-off,
watermelon-eating contest and games.
Dress up your classic car, golf
cart, or bicycle in patriotic colors and parade them
from Warren Street, down Main Street, and then to
City Park at 10:00am. At the park, the bake-off and
watermelon-eating contest will be held, followed by
a picnic and games, such as pitching horseshoes,
frisbee-throwing, checkers, or tennis.

Thursday, June 19th, 2008 - Concert in the Park,
6:30-8:00pm, City Park on South Norwood Street. The
New Apostles will be performing outstanding gospel
music. The group is made up of Lamar Nix, Paul
Jackson and Jay Beeland. These guys always draw a
crowd and do a wonderful job of bringing a hopeful
message, harmonized through song. The Concert in the
Park usually begins at 6:00pm, but due to a local
funeral, this particular concert will begin around
6:30pm. In case of rain, the concert will be held in
the Cultural Center on South Gibson Street. Cool

A Hands on Georgia project will be going on the same

volunteers will get it to the pantry and to needy
families. Please avoid bringing foods high in
sodium, sugar and/or fat and be sure to look at
expiration dates. A raffle will be held....prize yet
to be determined, but ticket price will be two
cans/boxes of food or $1.00 with proceeds going to
the "We Care Fund" at FUMC to go to the needy.

Milledgeville Singers Guild and the Magellan String
Quartet, will be presenting its second concert in
the series, An Evening of Classic: Music from
1750-1850. Sandra Crawford formerly of the Atlanta
Opera Chorus will be a featured soloist. Reserved

14th-concert date for donations. There will be three
sections of tickets; $10 VIP (limit 20

introduction to that seminar to let you know what it
will be about. If you want a web page for your
business or if you want to sell you products online
- you can do whatever level you wish. Greg Lauderman
from GA Tech will come take us through that process
and help you decide if you would like to take part
in the E-Business seminars in the fall offered in
Warrenton.
