Several local artists battled the wind Saturday in downtown Warrenton, GA as they showed off their artistic skills. The pre-Irma gusts demanded that tents be disassembled or suffer the consequences. After a few close calls with tumbleweed scenarios, artists pulled their tents down and snuggled against the walls for safer refuge.
All in all it was a gorgeous and enjoyable day. Ania Hatfield, who is best known for her spray painting techniques, received Best of Show honors for a pencil drawing of herself titled "Self Portrait". Adam Stone, a wood working artist, carried away two prizes for "Blue Willow Bowl" and "Finial Lidded Box". Photographers Chris Banks and Christina Miller, along with painter Valton Murray and cross-stitch artist Diane Roberts displayed their works along Main Street in the art block.
Inside a local shop, formerly an art studio, the Warrenton Garden Club put on a unique show. They paired up works of local artists with flower arrangements. Augusta musician Bill Karp added to the vocal arts with a fabulous set of jazz standards. He had some dancing in the streets!
Join us for our second scenic bus tour through rural east Georgia. We have five stops along the way to tour historic churches tucked away but not forgotten. Each church will have a 30-minute program of either the history of the church or a hymnal program, and ample opportunity to walk the grounds and photograph the area.
NEWS: The New Apostles will be part of the presentation at Crawfordville Presbyterian Church!
