Wishing a joyful 107th birthday to Ms. Beatrice Kinsey, Warren County’s oldest living African American! It’s been my honor to share your story!
Ms. Beatrice Kinsey, born on February 10, 1918, to the late Estella Jackson and Willie Martin. Raised in Warren County, Beatrice briefly attended the McDuffie County school system before dedicating much of her youth to assisting with the family farm. Beatrice is the cornerstone of her family. In December of 1938, she married Odell Kinsey, and together they adopted three children. Their family grew over the years, encompassing many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A woman of deep faith and service, Beatrice became an active member of Poplar Head Baptist Church in 1932, where she served faithfully for much of her life. She also joined the Grand Chapter of Eastern Star in 1945. Beatrice’s dedication to her faith was evident in her role as lead missionary at her church, a position she held until her health began to decline. Through her singing and cooking, she touched countless lives, spreading love and compassion to all who knew her. At 107 years old, Beatrice Kinsey stands as a living testament to resilience, service, and unwavering faith. Article & Photo Courtesy: Dr. Ken Blair
