History Tuesday
Did you know that the East Warrenton Depot has traveled as much as the trains that once passed through it? Originally located on East Warrenton Road along the Savannah & Atlanta Railway, this historic building was moved to Augusta in the 1980s as an exhibit for the Augusta Museum of History. After sitting vacant for years, Warren County’s leadership worked tirelessly to bring it back home. In 2007-08, the depot was fully rehabilitated and now serves as the Welcome Center, the Museum of Cultural Heritage, and the home of the Warren County Chamber of Commerce, County Development Authority, Downtown Development Authority, and Hometown Warrenton. Next time you visit, take a moment to appreciate its journey and the history it holds! Stop by and explore this local treasure! Courtesy: Homewtown Warrenton
