Tips for 911 Use

  • Teach your children about calling 9-1-1 in case of emergencies and make sure they are familiar with their address and phone number.
  • Take the battery out of cell phones without service if given to a child to play with. Even if the phone has no service, it can still call 9-1-1.
  • Always provide the location of your emergency first. As long as your location is known help can be sent even if the call is lost or disconnected.
  • Lock the keys to your phone to prevent dialing pre-programmed one-touch emergency notifications while not in use.
  • There is no need to program 9-1-1 into your auto-dial phone. The number is easily remembered and programming it could lead to an accidental dial.
  • If you call 9-1-1 by mistake, remain on the line and explain the mistake to the dispatcher.  Immediately hanging up may result in a call back and/or possibly having an officer respond to your residence.
  • Do not place false calls or texts for service or play with 9-1-1. It is a violation of law and is punishable by fine or imprisonment.
The Warren County E911 Personnel were recognized and celebrated with a light reception at the Warren County Community Service Building on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
The Communications officers were presented with certificates of appreciation for their years of dedicated service to the community and to the 911 profession.
The Warren County Board of Commissioners along with 911 Director Patricia Kendrick-Walker presented the certificates of appreciation to the following communications officers:
  • Michele M. Edmunds received a certificate of appreciation for her 23 years of service
  • Wanda J. Hubbard received a certificate of appreciation for her 16 years of service
  • Tiffany N. Lott received a certificate of appreciation for her 14 years of service
  • Charles R. Bland received a certificate of appreciation for his 10 years of service
  • Eugene D. Andrews received a certificate of appreciation for his 7 years of service
  • Hillary I. Schofield received a certificate of appreciation for her 4 years of service
  • Ryan A. Carden received a certificated of appreciation for his 1 year of service
  • Sharane M. Johnson received a certificate of appreciation for her 1 year of service
  • Brendan D. Thompson received a certificate of appreciation for his 5 months of service.
Ryan A. Carden was also recognized for his dedication and service to The United States Coast Guard Reserve. Carden will be on a yearlong deployment serving our nation and we wish him a safe deployment and a safe return.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of The Communications Officer of the Year Award.
COVID-19 has brought new challenges to Emergency Communications Centers operations through-out the world. However, through adversity comes learning. We had to learn through some of life’s worst cases as it developed right in front of us. We saw first-hand how a modern day worldwide public health crisis can stretch our operational capacities to the limit…but the 911 calls were answered. The recipient of the Communications Officer of the Year Award helped make it possible. The recipient assisted in training new recruits and doing so while answering, monitoring 911 calls and while monitoring the responding units in the field. Because of her dedication to the 911 profession and her dedication to the Warren County E911 Center as a communications officer, a training officer, and a terminal agency coordinator.
Tiffany N. Lott was awarded the Communications Officer of the Year.
