Civic organizations
Warren County has a number of civic clubs that are active in the community, including the Warrenton Kiwanis Club, Burkhalter Chapter - DAR, Masons, Post 96 American Legion, Warrenton Garden Club, 4-H Club, the Senior Citizens Center, and the Warren County Chamber of Commerce. Downtown businesses are required to obtain a sign permit before installing new building, window or accessory signage.  Contact Mary Ann Moseley for review and approval.

Business licenses are issued at Warrenton City Hall.  All operating businesses are required to hold a current license from the City of Warrenton.  Licenses must be renewed on an annual basis.  Contact Deloris Hall for more information. ​

​In order to sell or distribute alcohol in the City of Warrenton, you must have a local Pour License.  Contact Mary Ann Moseley to first determine your establishment's eligibility to serve alcoholic beverages.

City Zoning Changes

1. Submit a Written Application
Complete and submit an application detailing the zoning change you are seeking. The application must include:
  • The specific zoning change (special use exception or conditional use).
  • Grounds for the request.
  • Location of the site.
  • Name of the property owner.
  • Information on existing land uses within 400 feet.
2. Post Notice of the Hearing
The property owner must post a notice on the property in a visible location at least 15 days before the scheduled public hearing.
3. Attend the Public Hearing
A public hearing will be conducted by the Planning and Zoning Commission, where you or your representative may appear to present the request.
4. Commission Review & City Council Decision
The Planning and Zoning Commission will review your request and make a recommendation to the City Council. They will consider factors like traffic safety, parking, utility access, building setbacks, and compatibility with surrounding properties.
5. Decision & Timeframe
The City Council will make the final decision within 45 days of your application, and you will receive written notification of the outcome.
