​​Hometown Warrenton Staff is happy to assist prospective, new, and existing businesses within our City to navigate the process of opening, expanding or relocating a business. ​

New businesses should expect to need these permits:

Warrenton Permits and Licenses for New Businesses

If you are located in Warren County, please contact the Warren County Planning and Zoning Department for a Occupational Tax Certificate (Business License).

Local Utilities

City Zoning Changes

1. Submit a Written Application
Complete and submit an application detailing the zoning change you are seeking. The application must include:
  • The specific zoning change (special use exception or conditional use).
  • Grounds for the request.
  • Location of the site.
  • Name of the property owner.
  • Information on existing land uses within 400 feet.
2. Post Notice of the Hearing
The property owner must post a notice on the property in a visible location at least 15 days before the scheduled public hearing.
3. Attend the Public Hearing
A public hearing will be conducted by the Planning and Zoning Commission, where you or your representative may appear to present the request.
4. Commission Review & City Council Decision
The Planning and Zoning Commission will review your request and make a recommendation to the City Council. They will consider factors like traffic safety, parking, utility access, building setbacks, and compatibility with surrounding properties.
5. Decision & Timeframe
The City Council will make the final decision within 45 days of your application, and you will receive written notification of the outcome.
