Workforce

Businesses continue to grow and thrive in Warren County due to the regions highly skilled labor force and competitive wage rates. Because of Warren County’s location on Interstate 20, inter-county commuting for employment is very common. The 10-county labor draw area or 45-mile radius provide the most appropriate figures for most industries.

Business

Many companies choose to relocate and expand in warren County and the surrounding area because of the business-friendly environment, cooperative spirit of the leadership, and its quality workforce. Warren County has received designations including Entrepreneur Friendly Community and Community of Opportunity because of the pro-business attitude and economic success in the area. The City of Warrenton is a Georgia Classic Main Street certified by the National Main Street Program.
Businesses that have relocated and expanded recently within a 30-mile radius include Georgia-Pacific (180 jobs), Heart Wood Products (30 jobs), Asama Coldwater (120 jobs), Club Car (1200 employees).
Nearby Fort Gordon, home to the US Army Cyber Command, have an significant impact the area’s workforce. On average, 150 military personnel separate from the military each month. Of these, 60 percent have a background in information technology or intelligence.
The top 10 largest employers in the Warren County 30-mile draw area (excluding government agencies) are Shaw Industries, Battle Lumber Co, Walmart, HP Pelzer, The Timbermen, Asama Coldwater Manufacturing, McCorkle Nurseries, Georgia Pacific, Warrenton Health and Rehab, and University Hospital.

Training

Oconee Fall Line Technical College and Augusta Technical College have, for many years, provided training in practically any field, whether it is manufacturing, distribution, cyber security, truck-driving, maintenance, or other disciplines required by today’s industries. The state’s award-winning QuickStart program guarantees a consistent supply of trained workers for new and existing industry’s fast start-ups.
