Cultural Heritage

We invite you to explore a digital curation of the Museum of Cultural Heritage, proudly hosted at the Depot Welcome Center in Warrenton, GA. The Museum is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. For those wishing to visit over the weekend, we are happy to accommodate appointments to ensure your experience is personalized and engaging.

  4. Railroad and Trains: This exhibit pays homage to the rich history of railroads in the region. It features model trains, historical photographs, and artifacts related to the development of the railroads, showcasing their significant role in shaping transportation and commerce in Warren County.
Each display invites visitors to explore various aspects of local history, from military service to rural life and industrial development.

Warren County Exhibit

Featuring: People of Warren County, Warren County Schools, Warren County Churches, and more.

  1. People of Warren County: The top-left and center displays feature a collection of historical photographs showcasing prominent individuals and families from Warren County. These boards offer a glimpse into the lives of the county’s residents, celebrating their contributions to the community.
  2. Warren County Churches: Highlighted in the center display is an exhibit dedicated to the religious history of the area. Photographs and documents showcase local churches, illustrating their importance as community hubs throughout Warren County's history.
  3. Warren County Architecture: The top-right display showcases iconic buildings and architectural styles that define the historic charm of the area. Visitors can view images of significant landmarks that have shaped the landscape of the county over time.
  4. Warren County Memorabilia: Several glass display cases (seen in the bottom-left and right) house various artifacts, documents, and mementos related to the county's history. These include items such as historic documents, souvenirs, and local collectibles, offering a tangible connection to the past.
  5. Warrenton Garden Club: The bottom-center display highlights the history and contributions of the Warrenton Garden Club. It features a collection of the club's yearly books, photographs, and important documents, showcasing the club’s efforts in beautifying the community and preserving local green spaces. This exhibit tells the story of the club's longstanding dedication to environmental stewardship and its role in enhancing the natural beauty of Warren County through various community projects and events.
Each section of the Warren County Exhibit highlights a different aspect of the county's rich history, from its people and institutions to its built environment. This thoughtfully curated display provides visitors with a comprehensive understanding of Warren County’s unique cultural and historical legacy.

Dr. Ken Blair is a native of Warrenton, Georgia. He earned his Bachelor of Applied Science in organizational leadership from Mercer University and a Master of Business Administration from Brenau University. Also, Dr. Blair recently completed his Higher Education Administration: Educational Leadership at Liberty University. Dr. Ken Blair is the inaugural Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Office of the President at Wesleyan College. He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. In addition to his professional background, Ken serves as the African American Historian of Warren County as he seeks the Warren County community members for historical facts. Ken is the owner of KB Inspired & More and the founder of the Greeks from Warren County. Recently Ken was named 40 under 40 for Mercer University Minority Mentor Program, Georgia Trend’s 40 under 40 and a recent graduate of Leadership Macon, the class of 2022. He is the Co-Chair for the Mercer University African American Alumni Network. Ken was instrumental in renaming the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial park in Warren County, formerly Cedar Park. Ken is a dedicated community advocate committed to post-secondary awareness, social justice, equity-mindedness, and inclusive leadership.

Knox Theatre Exhibit

Relive the Past in the Historic Knox Theatre Exhibit
The Knox Theatre Exhibit showcases the rich history of the Knox Theatre, a beloved local landmark in Warren County. The display features several intriguing artifacts and memorabilia that transport visitors back to the golden age of cinema.
  1. Vintage Film Projector: The centerpiece of the exhibit is a vintage film projector that was once used at the Knox Theatre. This equipment represents the technological advancements of early cinema and highlights the theatre’s important role in local entertainment.
  2. Film Reels and Memorabilia: The top-middle portion of the exhibit displays classic film reels mounted on the wall, along with framed photographs and information about the theatre’s history. This display pays tribute to the theatre's long-standing connection to the local community.
  3. Concession Stand Artifacts: The top-right display case contains a collection of items related to the theatre's concession stand, including vintage popcorn boxes, candy packaging, and various memorabilia that evoke the nostalgic experience of movie-going in earlier times.
  4. Old Magazines and Playbills: The bottom-left image shows old theatre-related magazines and playbills, offering a glimpse into the films that were shown at the Knox Theatre during its heyday. These documents provide a fascinating look at the types of entertainment that were popular in Warren County over the years.
  5. Typewriter and Other Equipment: An Underwood typewriter is prominently displayed, along with a note explaining that it was used by Warren Jackson, the theatre’s manager. The typewriter serves as a historical artifact that speaks to the theatre's operations behind the scenes.
  6. Original Theatre Seats: The bottom-right portion of the exhibit features original seats from the Knox Theatre, worn from years of use. These seats offer a tangible connection to the countless movie-goers who enjoyed films in this iconic local venue.
Overall, the Knox Theatre Exhibit is a tribute to the theatre’s lasting legacy in Warrenton. It gives visitors a glimpse into the past and celebrates the cultural impact of this cherished establishment.
