Two Warrenton organizations are working to bring new life to an old monument. Earlier this year, the Reese-Hyman Post 96 American Legion and the Burkhalter Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution announced plans to move the monument from Academy Street to the Warren County courthouse. Phase 1 of the project- removing the monument - was completed over the summer. On November 11, the Reese-Hyman Post 96 American Legion plans to hold a ceremony at the Warren County Courthouse to honor the nine residents killed in World War I. The post has located all their graves and has asked family members or anyone who has information about these men and women to contact them at [email protected].
